‘Volunteering World’ is one of the most important dates in the year for VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas). It’s an open day for a range of charitable organisations looking to recruit volunteers. An on-going problem was that while the event traditionally attracted professionals such as teachers and doctors it wasn’t catching the eye of people with other much-needed skills such as those in the building trade, media and arts
We imagined a world where people with very special skills had vanished, both dramatising the importance of their skills to society and suggesting they had taken these same skills to areas overseas where whey would make a huge difference, capturing this idea with the thought “Where in the Volunteering World is everyone?”

Matt Bell, Director of Communications at VSO, described it as a “much wider mix of media than we’re used to using – which is exciting… a nice mix of PR stunts and traditional advertising… a little bit of humour with a little bit of irreverence – captured nicely”. It also picked up countless creative awards including D&AD, Campaign, Cannes Lion and the Grand Prix at Precision Marketing.
